This course is designed to cover in detail, use of force, and the options of force, with a strong emphasis on Graham v Connor. De-escalation was traditionally described as a seasoned officer’s ability to handle situations effectively/efficiently. Whether that meant talking to the person involved or recognizing legitimate opportunities to use appropriate levels of force to take control, before things got worse. This will be both a skill-based class as well as scenario based. Force on force equipment will be utilized.
This course is designed for officers and supervisors who are currently working active patrol and have a need to explore additional concepts and tools for de-escalation.
All force on force gear will be provided however it is recommended that students bring heavy longs sleeve clothing.
Students must be active duty law enforcement.
